Roteract Mahadan-04

Recognizing the need of blood donation especially in India, Sahil Bhateja (Member) of Rotaract Interact Committee 2015-16, came up with a brilliant idea of conducting camps during one definite period, all over India through Rotaract Clubs. The “MAHADAN” event was earlier planned for 15 RI districts but later it took a giant leap after a total of 27 RI districts agreed to be a part of the mega blood donation camp. Not to forget, this was a first of its kind initiative wherein Rotaract Clubs from all over India came together and pledged their involvement.

“MAHADAN” is a initiative taken by Rotaractor’s to organize blood donations camps around the the world from the 12th to the 18th of March, which is known as Rotaract week. It aims at collecting considerable and substantial units of blood which can serve the purpose at least to some extent. The service to humanity can be done in no better way than saving lives. Well each one of us can’t be a doctor to everyone around us, so isn’t this a better way to help the ones who actually need us.”

Joining this initiative in Lebanon, six Rotaract Clubs (Beyrouth, Sahel Metn, Cosmopolitan, Metn, Saida & AUB) joined forces with Donner Sang Compter to organize four blood drives at : USJ CSM, USJ CSS, Ash 2020 and Earth Hour Lebanon. The purpose of this collaboration is, in synchronization with the International events happening, to collect as much blood units as possible and raise the stocks of Hospitals in the country.

We, as DSC, believe that such partnerships and collaborations can help us get closer to  our goal of reaching a total voluntary blood donation system in Lebanon. For that, we thank all Rotaract Clubs that took part in this joint-venture, and we hope that such initiatives happen more often, all in the aim of helping people in need of blood!
